Training and development
Power Testing place a great emphasis on the training and development of their team. We spoke to Gareth Davies, HSEQ Manager, about what employee development means to Power Testing, and how applicants like you grow your career with them.
"At Power Testing, we take great pride in the development of our people through comprehensive training. Our skilled people like nothing better than passing on their vast knowledge and experience to everyone that joins our team.
We have a vast and varied client base, from utilities to facility management companies, meaning that our people get plenty of exposure to many types of high voltage and low voltage equipment, along with protection systems, meaning that our people become the best in the business. Our engineers with over 25 years in the high voltage sector are still learning, and this keeps the work interesting and satisfying.
Due to the industry in which Power Testing operates, fundamental skills and theory can be learnt externally, putting anyone that joins us in a good place. However, our people truly learn and fine tune their skills to the next level via our internal structured training programme.
Our internal structured training programme assesses every individual’s knowledge and identifies their existing skillset. A training programme is then created, and a dedicated mentor is assigned to ensure career progress whilst improving skills through regular feedback and internal trade tests.
Everyone that joins our team has a clear learning pathway that ensures we upskill our people in a fair and consistent way, ultimately giving them the confidence to excel in their roles.
All our people are encouraged to progress, and with the right aptitude and attitude our technicians can progress through the levels to one day achieve engineer status.
Additionally, all our people receive extensive external training and attend essential courses each year to ensure everyone has the best health and safety training and awareness, ensuring that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day."
